Having lived through the centuries, she comes to realize that not everyone is bad; though there is still evil lurking where you least expect it, she develops deep feelings for her friends. Carl is infatuated with Audrey and she falls for the lanky teenager who was least likely to have a girlfriend before his twenty-seventh birthday. As their romance develops, they unwittingly match up a pair of their friends in a non-traditional friendship; a friendship that the 1980s were not prepared to endorse.
